New Film Generation: monstrously different – making monster films

In the Kulturrucksack workshop led by Maja Pilati and Jana Nestler, children and young people aged 10 to 14 developed and realised their own film idea during the summer holidays.

(The film will be shown at the beginning of Westfalen Connection 03)

Based on the question of what monsters are and what monster images tell us about society – about fears, otherness, acceptance and identity – a funny and imaginative short film was created: a YouTube scientist from the channel “Science with you” accidentally transforms a found baby into a devil monster. Together with the cookie, beauty and snake monsters, he tries to turn the baby back – a chaotic and magical mission full of fire and fog.

The participants of the New Film Generation are: Theresa Oshege, Karl Flakowski, Linus Kortmann, Mika Bernart, Johann Wienken, Tilda Hinzmann and Laura Szewera. They wrote the script and were responsible for sound, camera, lighting, directing and acting.

The project was funded by the state of NRW, Kulturrucksack NRW and the Münster Department of Culture.
