Filmfestival Münster 2025: Open your eyes for 10 days of film art

On Friday 19 September, the 21st Münster Film Festival kicks off with the German premiere of the Dutch film “Alpha.”. Around 70 films can be seen at the Schloßtheater Münster until 28 September. The diversity of European cinema in both long and short form can be discovered in three competitions and other sections.

From 19 to 28 September, Westphalia’s oldest competition festival will be showing current film art from the region, Germany and the whole of Europe – with a strong focus on young talent.

German premiere opens the festival

The German premiere of the Dutch film “Alpha.” opens the 21st Münster Film Festival. The father-son drama by Jan-Willem van Ewijk is an existential survival thriller set against the spectacular backdrop of the Swiss Alps.
